About Me

Blog_icon_lifestyleMy name is Julie and I’m the wife of a farmer and the mother of 2 little balls of energy. After 10 years in the corporate world, I traded PowerPoint presentations and business meetings for farm life, soccer games and a consulting gig.

The highlight of my day is making dinner with my kids. I love food and everything about it — growing it, cooking it and eating it. We are farmers, but we live in the suburbs. A little unconventional, but life as a suburban farm mom gives me the best of both worlds. You might find me riding in a tractor and wandering around Target — all in the same day.

I write about some of my favorite things:FarmFamily

Family (obviously, my favorite!). It was a tough decision to leave a career that I loved, but my kids are the light of my life and I love that I get to spend more time with them now. There are times that we drive each other crazy and I can’t wait for naptime, but I love, love, love seeing the world through their little green eyes!

Our farm:  We are 5th generation Iowa farmers. Some of the land we farm has been in Mark’s family for over 130 years. I also grew up on a farm, but I never thought farming would be such a big part of my adult life. It wasn’t until my early 20’s when I realized how blessed we are to call ourselves farmers and to share a little bit about that part of our lives with others.

Food. I have always enjoyed cooking and baking. Now that I have little people, I care more and more about what we put on the table each night. I love to learn about ingredients in food and experiment with new recipes. We eat well as often as we can with the occasional sweet treat. I share some of our family favorites.
